According to the FDA, the risks outweigh the benefits. Clinical studies revealed that out of 11,000 people taking Zelnorm - 13 had heart attacks.
For now the FDA said it will consider reintroducing Zelnorm on a limited basis after more testing. Novartis will offer a refund to any unused or expired pills.
