How does Strattera work?

Strattera works by selectively blocking the reuptake of norepinephrine, a chemical messenger, or neurotransmitter, by certain nerve cells in the brain. This action increases the availability of norepinephrine, which is thought to be essential in regulating impulse control, organization, and attention. The precise mechanism by which Strattera works on ADHD is not known.

What are the differences between Strattera and other FDA-approved treatments for ADHD?
Both Strattera and older treatments, like methylphenidate (the active ingredient in Ritalin and Concerta), are effective in treating ADHD. However, Strattera is the first FDA-approved treatment for ADHD that is not a stimulant and is not a controlled substance under the Controlled Substance Act. As a non-controlled substance, Strattera provides the convenience of physician samples and phone-in refills.

Is ADHD a genetic disorder?
Research repeatedly demonstrates that ADHD runs in families. There are also indications that the type of ADHD that persists into adulthood is more highly genetic than the type that remits in childhood.

Are boys more prone to ADHD than girls?
Boys are three times more likely to receive a diagnosis of ADHD. Are there true physiological differences in boys that put them at a higher risk for ADHD? Studies to date do not confirm a strong physiological difference between the sexes.

Is there a cure for ADHD?
Like other chronic disorders, ADHD is not curable. Some patients have a remission of the disease and may lead productive adolescent and adult lives. However, approximately 60 percent of children with ADHD will carry their symptoms into adulthood.

What are Strattera side effects?
If you or your child experiences symptoms of liver problems such as itchy skin, dark urine, jaundice (yellow skin or eyes), tenderness in the upper right-side of the abdomen or unexplained flu-like symptoms, you should contact your doctor immediately.

I cannot afford to hire a Strattera lawyer. How much does a Strattera liver damage lawsuit cost?
