Just like you can drown in only an inch of water, you can suffer serious injuries from a fall of only a few feet. Obviously the higher you fall from, usually the worse your injuries will be. But a fall from only a few feet can cause bruising of not only your body, but of your brain as well. This can cause serious neurological complications, including paralysis.
Falls from heights pose the risk of broken bones, internal injuries, spinal cord injuries and brain injuries. Spinal and head injuries are the most common for causing paralysis. If the neck is broken, you suffer from paraplegia or quadriplegia, depending on where the break occurs and the severity.
Even if you only fall a couple of feet and do not see or feel any injuries, you should be seen by a doctor immediately. Some symptoms may not show up for a few days after the incident, symptoms which could be prevented if seen by a doctor immediately following the accident.
If you or a loved one have suffered a fall from a high area, please call the Pennsylvania paralysis lawyers at Anapol Schwartz for your free consultation.
