Nursing Home Neglect: Woman Dies from Bedsores

Three years after entering a New York nursing home, an 86-year-old woman died of severe neglect due to infection from bedsores. After being in three different facilities, the 109 pound woman had lost 45 pounds. One bedsore on her back was so deep that ink from the design pattern of the sheet she was lying on transferred to the woman's bone, which was visible through the sore. The New York state Department of Health launched an investigation into the claims in the lawsuit, even as East Neck, NY attorney dismissed them. (Newsday)
