Contact lens wearers are more at risk to contracting eye infections than those who wear glasses or have perfect vision. In fact, women are more prone to eye infections than men. However, people are becoming more aware of eye infections due to a number of cases made public in March.A number of people were diagnosed with a rare type of fungal eye infection. Further investigation during the following months revealed that chemical solvents in Bausch & Lomb's ReNu MoistureLoc did not abide well with certain soft contact lenses and could increase the risk of contracting the fungal infection.
A Hamden optometrist said, "I never liked ReNu Moistureloc. I went to seminars about this. Thankfully, I didn't have a problem with it because I told people not to use it." (Zwire)
