Bausch & Lomb (BOL) had hired temporary workers to ramp up production of its PureVision contact lens. The company said changing business conditions account for these latest adjustments. Plants affected by the cuts are in Waterford, Ireland; Livingston, Scotland; and Rochester, N.Y. The company did not say whether the reductions would affect results. Earlier this year, Bausch & Lomb's key ReNu with MoistureLoc contact lens solution was recalled, which is expected to put a dent in 2006 results by at least $50 million. The company has also been struggling with various internal accounting and tax issues and has delayed filing its audited financial results. (BOL News from Market Watch)
