Two months ago Bausch & Lomb, issued a worldwide recall of the multi-purpose contact lens solution. ReNu with MoistureLoc has been linked to a major fungal eye infection called fusarium keratatis. Doctors conclude that the fungal eye infection is serious and symptoms include blurry vision, pain or redness of eye, sensitivity to light, and blindness. Doctors say while fusarium keratatis is serious; it is also rare. They claim that the bigger problem with contact lens wearers is using an incompatible solution and poor eye hygiene.
Some good rules of thumb to follow include matching the right contact lens product with the right contact lens solution; regularly clean, rinse, and soak contact lenses; store contact lenses in the right container and replace every three months; use fresh solution; get contact lenses replaced as per doctors' orders.
