Medical Malpractice and Misdiagnoses

There are a number of instances of medical malpractice and one of the most underreported are cases of misdiagnosis. In one famous example, a woman complained of chest pains and visited her doctor. The doctor stated that there was nothing wrong with her and that the pains would go away. Well, the pains did not go away and the patient visited a new doctor for a second opinion. The new diagnosis was she was in an advanced stage of lung cancer! Needless to say, the first doctor had committed malpractice as his misdiagnosis delayed her very necessary treatment longer than necessary.
