New research released at the 18th Annual Scientific Sessions of the American Society of Echocardiography reports that a new ultrasound performed during stress testing is a more accurate method for identifying women at the highest risk for coronary artery disease (CAD) than traditional stress testing and risk factors. Coronary artery disease is the number 1 killer of women; it is much more widespread than breast cancer. Unlike men, women do not show the classic signs of heart disease therefore it is more difficult to identify heart blockages.
The stress echocardiograph can high risk women and recommend appropriate treatment earlier.
