Birth Trauma

During childbirth, an infant can sustain physical injuries or emotional shock due to factors like the restriction of blood flow and oxygen intake, traumatic brain injury, or even forces like compression or traction. On average in the US, there are six to eight birth injuries out of every 1,000 live births.

As physical injuries, such as those from forceps used during the delivery, cannot be denied, other injuries, like trauma to the brain due to heads be emerged through powerful forces inflicted on the skull, are less obvious, and therefore, may go untreated. Yet, other babies may come forth blue and stuff due to suffocation and need to be brought back to life. No matter what the initial trauma may be, if a baby is born with an unfinished brain, the baby may not be able to experience some human sensations or emotions, and this can be a very serious issue.
