Owners of newly built homes across the country are getting sick. Many report the presence of an unpleasant smell, corroded pipes and significant health problems such as respiratory illnesses and bloody noses since they bought homes that were constructed within the last five years.
A preliminary report issued by the Florida Department of Health found that the cause of the rotten egg smell reported by homeowners living with Chinese drywall could be attributable to Hydrogen Sulfide, Carbonyl Sulfide and Carbon Disulfide, all of which were found in the drywall. Further investigations are currently being conducted to determine which of these chemicals are present in homes with Chinese drywall and in what quantities. If you believe that you have been harmed by the installation of Chinese drywall in your home then you should seek the advice of an experienced attorney.
