March 2009

On March 23, 2009 Time Magazine discussed the health problems associated with Chinese drywall and its connection to other products imported from China that have recently been found to be a threat to public health

On March 31, 2009 The Wall Street Journal Market Watch reported that a federal class action lawsuit had been filed against Knauf, the manufacturer and distributor of Chinese drywall to the United States. The article described the lawsuit as a "significant product liability case."

April 2009

The Wall Street Journal Market Watch also reported on April 2, 2009 that two U.S. senators were seeking to temporarily ban the import of drywall from China because of the alleged health and safety problems.

On April 11, 2009 MSNBC carried an Associated Press story about the scope of the problem, its origins and the story of one family allegedly suffering health problems as a result of the Chinese drywall in their home.

On April 13, 2009 the Seattle Times called the Chinese drywall problem the "latest Katrina disaster" since many Hurricane Katrina victims rebuilt their homes during the time that Chinese drywall was imported into the United States and are now allegedly suffering health issues from the use of the Chinese drywall in their homes.

May 2009

By May 21, 2009 the Detroit Free Press was reporting that concern was growing on Capitol Hill about the urgency of the Chinese drywall problem.

The Palm Beach Post reported on May 28, 2009 that the acting chair of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) would be stepping down. The article claims that the acting chair had been criticized for her handling of the Chinese drywall issue.
