Widespread hip implant problems in the United States
Tom Anapol highlights the complications of metal-on-metal hip implants on NBC10.
Metal-on-metal hip implants have been recalled at an astounding rate, which has become a problem for the estimated 442,000 hip implant patients in the U.S. each year. So far, six models have been found to cause serious health problems for patients. The latest recall was the Stryker Rejuvenator recall that corrodes inside patient bodies. The FDA recognizes metal-on-metal hips have problems and has ordered postmarket surveillance studies to be conducted for metal-on-metal hip replacement systems because of safety issues. Watch the video above for victim’s testimony at the recent FDA hearing about defective hip replacements.
