What is digoxin? Digoxin (pronounced di JOX in) is used to treat conditions such as congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation (abnormal heartbeats), and fast heartbeats. Digoxin helps the heart to beat more strongly and regularly. Digoxin may also be used for off- label purposes.
On April 25, 2008, Actavis Totowa, the manufacturer of digoxin (brand name Digitek®) recalled the drug as a precautionary measure.
Double strength digoxin tablets pose a risk of digitalis toxicity in patients with renal failure. Digitalis toxicity may cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, low blood pressure, cardiac instability, and very slow heart beat known as bradycardia. Death can also result from excessive Digitalis intake.
Several reports of serious digoxin (Digitek) side effects and life-threatening injuries have been reported including death.
Have you or loved ones experienced serious digoxin side effects or death? Please contact the personal injury law firm of Anapol Schwartz to determine if you qualify for a Digitek digoxin lawsuit.
Case Selection Criteria: At this time, we are accepting cases involving any length of use. The Digitek recall applies to both the .125mg and .25mg oral dosages. Anapol, Schwartz is accepting cases involving serious cardiac impairment and death. Will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
