Looking at Bertek Distributors

While the drug Bertek has been in the news lately due to abnormal side effects associated with the drug, the public is generally unaware of the manufacturers and distributors of the drug.

Therefore, it would be prudent to provide a brief overview of these companies. This way, those who have concerns about the drug Bertek could at least learn a little more about the entities responsible for bringing the drug to the public market.

Also, if any injuries have been suffered it would also be best to consult with a qualified attorney. More specifically, it is best to consult with an attorney who has experience dealing with this particular problem.

Actavis Totowa LLC. Actavis was originally known as Armide Pharmaceuticals although under its new name it has amassed a significant presence in the drug industry.  Actually, Actavis Totowa is an amalgamation of three companies that have merged through acquisitions. In addition to the previously mentioned Armide Pharmaceuticals, the companies Abrika Pharmaceuticals and a portion of the company Alpharma Inc comprise the current LLC incarnation. Currently, North America remains the company's largest market although its overall sales are global in nature. In terms of size and scope, Actavis Totowa is in the top ten of pharmaceutical giants on a worldwide basis.

Mylan. Of all the pharmaceutical companies in the world, Mylan remains one of the largest. (It is currently number three in the world in terms of overall size and scope) The volume of products that Mylan is involved with on various levels is upwards of 570. These products are quite diverse and include pills, topical solutions, injectible drugs and many others.  Mylan's relationship with these products includes manufacturing, distributing, developing, licensing and marketing.

Amide Pharmaceutical, Inc. Amide Pharmaceuticals was once an independently owned drug company that produced generic drugs. The success of the company was due in large part to its ability to produce generic versions of critical drugs such as the muscle relaxer soma; the injectible pain killer Demerol; the pain killer Vicodin; and the pain reliever/muscle relaxer Percocet. The company was eventually purchased and absorbed by Actavis in a multi billion dollar deal. Of course, this was done to expand Actavis' market share in the generic drug demographics. While the ownership has changed the "generic scope" of the company has not and continues to expand its reach in the current market.

On a side note, the ability to produce reliable generic drugs has provided the consumer market with a viable alternative to expensive name brand drugs. Additionally, the generics often deliver the exact same effect as the generic drugs making them effective low cost substitutes. In light of the popularity of generic drugs, it is obvious why Actavis Totowas would seek to acquire a company such as Amide Pharmaceuticals.  While there is some consumer fear about using generics, these drugs are generally quite safe. So, there is no reason to feel unease about most generic drugs.

UDL Laboratories. UDL Laboratories is primarily involved with providing unit dose packaging to hospitals and other medical or healthcare facilities. While the main product of UDL Laboratories is generic drugs it is not necessarily limited to such drugs. Currently, UDL Laboratories remains an industry leader as it provides product to a significant number of health care facilities around the world.

While all of these companies do deserve significant credit for providing the public with a host of helpful and valuable drugs they must also be taken to task somewhat for providing less than helpful, flawed drugs such as Bertek. Therefore, it would never be a wise choice to let any of these companies off the proverbial hook if one develops any adverse reactions after taking Bertek. To do so would not only be self-defeating, but it would provide no impediment to these companies releasing a flawed drug in the future.
