Scaffolding collapses: Do you need a construction site accident law firm?

Although the accident happened in Pasadena, it could easily happen at a Pennsylvania construction site. Read on... http://www.whittierdailynews.com/news/ci_6595660

The worker, whose name was not released but is in his 30s, was standing on the scaffolding when it collapsed from the fifth floor; he fell with it from the fourth floor. Co-workers pulled the man from the rubble. The victim suffered bleeding of the brain, a fractured neck, two broken ribs, a bruised lung and a fractured pelvis.

Officials believe a tarp installed next to the scaffolding blew off causing it to collapse. Fifteen cars were buried in the rubble. If the accident had occurred two hours later or earlier there would've been more injuries and probable deaths.

City building inspectors normally inspect construction sites about 50 times while work is going on. Inspectors found no problems during multiple visits to the condo site since January 2006.

Cal-OSHA officials also conduct unplanned, unannounced inspections at construction work sites. In cases where multiple violations are lodged against a particular company, Cal-OSHA officials monitor the firm and offer consultation services.

The parking lot owner said his company was working to assist car owners whose vehicles were damaged in the accident.

State workplace safety officials continued investigating why scaffolding collapsed at a Pasadena construction site this week, seriously injuring one worker and burying 15 cars at an adjacent parking lot.

Cal-OSHA's probe will take anywhere from two weeks to three months to complete, which is normal for such accidents.

If any violations are found, state officials will issue citations to the construction company. Currently there were no stop-work orders.

Meanwhile, the injured worker remained hospitalized.
