Man Dies from Scaffolding Fall at Sugar Mill

In South Texas, OSHA is investigating the death of a 23-year old sugar mill worker who died after he fell off a scaffold and hit his head. The man managed to call 911 but died on the way to the hospital. Officials believe the victim struck his head on a pipe as he fell.

The victim was not an employee for the Santa Rosa Sugar Mill but instead worked for the Factory Engineering and Services Company which is already under investigation for another safety accident.

OSHA is now interviewing witnesses to the man's death and surveying the area where the worker fell.

Calls to the sugar mill and the Factory Engineering and Services Company were not returned.
