Montana Car Seat Laws Montana requires children under age 6 or weighing less than 60 pounds to ride in a federally approved car seat or booster seat that is properly installed and used. Montana law further requires that all other people in the vehicle must be wearing a seat belt if they are not required to be in a car seat.
