Defect: The lower latching arm on the latch anchorage may not meet the required material strength. If the child seat is connected to the vehicle using the latch anchorage, in the event of a vehicle crash, the child seat may detach from its lower anchorage, possibly resulting in serious injury to the child occupant.

Corrective Action: Parents should replace this seat with an appropriate new child seat immediately and return the Kiddy Topsafe seat to any authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer for a full refund.Model(s): Mercedes-Benz Infant Restraint (5-20lbs) and Booster Seat (40-100 lbs) equipped with the BabySmart™ airbag deactivation device.

Defect: If the Mercedes-Benz Infant Restraint or the Booster Seat is incorrectly positioned or moves several inches or more forward of the seat back in the front passenger seat of the Mercedes-Benz BabySmart™ equipped vehicles, it may not automatically deactivate the passenger front airbag. The status of the BabySmart™ system in the vehicle will, however, always correctly indicate to the driver if the airbag is deactivated or not, by the illumination or non-illumination of the "AIRBAG OFF" indicator.
