Tainted Body Parts
Anapol Schwartz has taken a lead role in representing victims that received bone, skin, tissue and other transplants from corpses without the required screening for certain infectious diseases.
Hepatitis B and C, HIV and Syphilis are some of the diseases spread through this improper procedure.
In 2005, the FDA notified physicians and hospitals in the area that an investigation into the trafficking of bones and tissues illegally harvested from cadavers in funeral homes had begun. This is a continuing story and the number of people affected by this practice is unknown but expected to be a small percentage of transplant recipients.
Many doctors have contacted patients that may have been affected and advised them to obtain precautionary testing to determine any risk of infection. Anapol Schwartz represents over one hundred recipients of these tainted body parts. Many clients have been diagnosed with Hepatitis and/or HIV and others were recipients but have not yet manifested a disease.
