Undertakers in corpse stealing plead guilty

Seven funeral home directors have admitted to plundering corpses and selling the body parts for transplants. This admission may help to expand an investigation into human tissue harvesting. Working from at least four different funeral homes in New York, the group took body parts from thousands of corpses without the consent of relatives and then sold the human tissue and bones to Biomedical Tissue Services, a New Jersey body parts distributor. The undertakers have also been accused of falsifying death certificates and other paperwork.

Four people who were previously indicted in February on charges including conspiracy, unlawful dissection and forgery, pleaded not guilty to new charges in the case, including body stealing and opening graves. (UK, Tekegraph)
