Workers who made parts for atomic and hydrogen bombs have fallen ill

Former workers at a bomb components plant in Pinellas County, Florida, have reportedly been stricken with work-related illnesses, including cancer, in shocking numbers.

The GE-owned plant, which is now closed, made components for atomic and hydrogen bombs. Dozens of people who worked there have died and many others are sick from ailments that make be linked to their employment.

"If half the people had known that down the road -- at 50 years of age -- they were going to get cancer, I don't think they would have worked out there," former nuclear worker Robert "Dave" Bossard said.

The U.S. Department of Energy had acknowledged that parts of the former plant site are contaminated with organic solvents and metals.
