ADHD Drugs Studied for Patient Safety

The new study will try to determine whether ADHD drugs are associated with greater likelihood of heart attack, sudden cardiac death, or ventricular arrhythmia.

The study of drugs ADHD will include data on patient experiences of 6 million children and approximately 10 million adults. According to the National Institutes of Health, ADHD is one of the most common mental disorders in children, affecting 3 to 5 percent of school-aged kids. In August 2006, the FDA asked the makers of stimulants used to treat ADHD drugs to include warnings of possible risk of sudden death and serious heart problems. (Yahoo)
