August 21, 2006: FDA announces it has requested changes to ADHD drug warnings. These ADHD drugs need to warn of possible heart problems. Other problems include sudden deaths, strokes, and heart attacks reported in adults taking ADHD drugs like Adderall. The new labels also warn that pre-existing psychotic disorders, such as bipolar illness, may get worse. The advisory also noted new psychiatric symptoms, such as hallucinations or delusional thinking, may emerge with ADHD drugs.
In the months following an FDA advisory panel covering Adderall warnings, the FDA asked most the drug maker to add better warnings. The FDA decision was barely made public. The FDA simply released a letter to GlaxoSmithKline, maker of Dexedrine, sent to doctors.... (Read Article)
