The stress response of the body is meant to protect and support us. When faced with a threat, whether it be to our physical safety or emotional balance, the body responds with fight or flight mechanisms. The stress response is what helped our stone age ancestors survive, enhancing their ability to fight or flee from danger. The problem with the stress response is that the more it is activated, the harder it is to shut off. Conflict at work and impossible deadlines keep your heart rate and blood pressure elevated. Extended or repeated activation of the stress response takes a heavy toll on the body that ultimately causes heart attack.

Medical Malpractice

According to the American Psychological Association, 54 percent of Americans worry about too much stress in their lives. On the job stress is usually caused by three things:

Frustrations – Stressors include unsatisfying job, lack of promotions, unable to express yourself about your work situation without reprimand, the lack of proper training or the inability to learn the task
Conflicts – Disagreements with your boss or supervisor about workload, hours, days off, vacation time, and conflicts with fellow employees.
Pressures – Stress can stem from the expectations of others or the demands you place on yourself. You may feel pressure to excel at work or to meet unreasonable deadlines.

Reducing stress at work takes some effort:
