Thomas R. Anapol (tanapol@anapolschwartz.com)

Thomas Anapol, a Shareholder of Anapol Schwartz, concentrates his practice in pharmaceutical and medical device litigation including metal-on-metal hip lawsuits, asbestos mesothelioma and other catastrophic injury related civil litigation. He co-chairs the firm’s Mass Tort Department.

Mr. Anapol has served in a variety of leadership capacities in various state and multidistrict litigation (MDL) Plaintiff Steering Committees (PSC). On March 11, 2013, he was appointed to serve on the six-member Stryker Rejuvenate & ABG II NJ State PSC before Judge Brian Martinotti of Bergen County. Mr. Anapol was appointed co-lead counsel in the Biomet Metal-on-Metal (MoM) Hip Implant Litigation in December 2012. He currently serves on four Pelvic Mesh MDL PSCs.  He also serves on the Discovery Committee in the DePuy ASR MDL Hip Implant Litigation.

Mr. Anapol serves and has served in various positions for the Pennsylvania Association for Justice (PAJ) as a Board of Governor for the Association since 2005. He is now an officer in the association as its Treasurer, Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, and Chair of the Business Partners Committee. Mr. Anapol is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). In 2011 and 2012, he was appointed to serve as co-chair of the AAJ DePuy Metal on Metal Litigation Group and as co-chair of the AAJ Biomet Hip Litigation Group.  He was re-appointed in 2012 to serve on the AAJ Sections and Litigation Group Coordination Committee (SLGCC), the committee which oversees all of the AAJ section and litigation groups.

Mr. Anapol has been named a Super Lawyer in Pennsylvania every year since 2006 and was named one of the top 100 Lawyers in Pennsylvania and Philadelphia in the 2012 edition. He routinely lectures on mass torts at AAJ, PAJ and other legal seminars across the country.

Mr. Anapol received his bachelor’s degree from Boston University in 1988 and earned his law degree from Widener University School of Law in 1991. He is admitted to practice and actively practices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and various Federal Courts across the country.
