Jeffrey S. Downs is an associate in the civil litigation department of Anapol Schwartz.
Mr. Downs primarily focuses his practice in products liability, wrongful death, catastrophic injury and employment law matters. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Downs was an associate with the prominent defense firms of Pepper Hamilton LLP and Dechert LLP and utilizes his vast experience as a defense attorney to bring a unique perspective that has proven successful when dealing with complex issues for his clients. As a former law clerk for the Honorable Cynthia M. Rufe, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Mr. Downs brings first-hand knowledge of the procedural prerequisites necessary to file cases and execute a successful litigation strategy. In addition to his practical experience at the trial level, Mr. Downs has successfully briefed and/or argued before numerous appellate courts including the New Jersey Supreme Court.
In 1994, Mr. Downs received his Bachelor's degree, with honors, from Rutgers University School of Business and was named to the National Deans List of America. He earned his law degree, with honors, from Rutgers University School of Law in 2001 and was named a Deans Scholar, a designation reserved for students reaching the highest achievement within the top 5% of the class overall. While in law school, Mr. Downs was elected to serve as a faculty aid in legal writing and also served as an Executive Editorial Board Member for the Rutgers Law Review where he published an article on amusement ride safety issues in the Rutgers Law Journal, Vol. 32, Fall 2000. Mr. Downs was also a finalist in advanced Hunter Moot Court and was awarded the "Top Ten Brief" award designation.
Mr. Downs is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, as well as before the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
