Beginnings
In 1976, well-known Philadelphia Trial Attorney Paul Anapol had a desire to create a boutique trial law firm that could offer the best representation for the public in terms of civil litigation. After sharing his desire with fellow attorneys at his office, four of the attorneys decided to make this dream a reality. Paul Anapol, Richard B. Schwartz, Sol H. Weiss and Eric Gerst left their jobs in the established general practice law firm and began the makings of Anapol Schwartz.
In 1977, the firm officially changed its name to Anapol, Schwartz, Weiss and Gerst, but within a year, Eric Gerst resigned from the practice, and Alan Schwartz joined the group. To recognize Alan's trial expertise in medical malpractice cases, the firm changed its name again, this time to Anapol, Schwartz, Weiss and Schwartz. Alan has earned many million dollar verdicts and settlements since joining the firm in 1978, and continues that work today.
