"What's All the Hullabaloo About Pharmaceutical Litigation"
PHILADELPHIA, PA - February 18, 2005 - Anapol Schwartz Weiss Cohan Feldman and Smalley, P.C. (Anapol Schwartz) attorney Lawrence R. Cohan participated in the Pennsylvania Bar Institute Program entitled "What's All the Hullabaloo About Pharmaceutical Litigation." The program took place on Friday, February 25, 2005. Mr. Cohan served as the Course Planner for the event, as well as a speaker.
The half-day program was for attorneys who are new to the field of pharmaceutical litigation as well as attorneys who recognize that general knowledge in this field is critical because of the explosion of pharmaceutical litigation. The event highlighted current litigation on the "hottest" pharmaceutical litigation including Vioxx, Baycol, PPA, Ephedra, Lotronex, Accutane, Lymerix and vaccine litigation. It also focused on the intake and filing of cases, Philadelphia's Complex Litigation Center, the multi-district litigation process, failure to warn theory, using experts to full advantage, deposition tactics and resolution strategies.
Mr. Cohan chairs Anapol Schwartz's Toxic Tort Litigation Department in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and serves as the Managing Partner and Senior Trial Counsel for their New Jersey office. He concentrates his practice in drug/pharmaceutical litigation, class actions, toxic torts (asbestos, chemicals and other dangerous products), medical malpractice, products liability, FELA and other complex personal injury matters. He has obtained million dollar jury verdicts in toxic tort and medical malpractice cases in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He is presently representing plaintiffs in pharmaceutical cases involving PPA, Lotronex, Lymerix, Accutane, Zyprexa, Ephedra and other drugs. He also represents victims suffering from adverse reactions to vaccines before the United States Court of Claims in Washington, D.C., as part of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.
Mr. Cohan received his bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, from Boston University in 1976, and his law degree in 1979 from the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Cohan has been certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is a New Jersey Certified Civil Trial Attorney. He writes and lectures regularly on the subjects of toxic tort, pharmaceutical, asbestos, lead and medical malpractice litigation.
