The Benefits of a Safe Driving Course
A safe driving course can go a long way in reducing potential instances of liability.
Most people will crane just a thought of traffic school. This is because traffic school is mostly employed as a means of eliminating points from one's driver's license after committing an infraction. The fiscal responsibility minded might even take a driver's safety course because it will lower their insurance premiums. Then, there are those diligent people who understand that occasionally taking a safe driver course can literally save them being on the receiving end of a lawsuit. So, it goes without saying that investing a little time in a driver's safety course can prove very helpful.
While issue very little has changed in terms of the operation of a vehicle over the past twenty years, and the fact remains that there are certain differences in the way hazards are present on the road. For example, there are a significant number of large vehicles such as trucks and SUV's on the road. While this doesn't necessarily present an immediate hazard it does change the complexion of the highways and streets. Therefore, certain modifications in one's driving may be necessary in order to maintain proper highway safety.
These may seem like minor points but sometimes these minor points are helpful. For example, understanding that an SUV has a rollover risk for even simply understanding that certain cars require more braking distance to stop can aid in making driving much safer.
Basically, anything that you can do to improve your driving will limit the potential to cause in a car accident. Anywhere you can improve goes a long way and when you improve your awareness of proper vehicle operation is doubtful that you will make costly errors. Driver and highway safety courses are relatively inexpensive and they can avoid a number of problems in the long run. Honestly, what possible harm can come out of becoming a safer driver?

Road Rage and Car Accidents
The very negligent practice of road rage has contributed to a number of car accidents.
|
Many assume that negative situations involving car accidents center on crashes. However, there is another common problem associated with car accidents that sometimes rears its ugly head. This is the unfortunate instance of road rage. As the name would imply, road rage refers to a driver losing control due to anger. Sometimes, this anger manifests itself and in rude yet benign behaviors such as yelling and cursing. Other times, a road rage takes the form of physical assaults or even trying to drive someone off the road after a car accident. Needless to say, this behavior is both negligible and criminal.
This is why it is important not to exacerbate the situation. That is, no matter how poorly another driver may treat you should not lash out in anger.
|
This comes in the form of avoiding cursing or displaying obscene gestures. If the other person is already in a state where they are losing control you do not want a push them over the edge. No, a mere words or gestures are not sufficient to provoke a physical attack; however, such attacks may occur anyway. After all, there are thousands of laws on the books and millions of people in prison. So, when you are involved in a car accident involving road rage you want to be concerned about your own safety first. Worrying about being in the right or wrong in an accident or moving violation can come later after your safety is procured.
When you have procured your safety and then you can take the necessary next steps. This could include filing criminal charges after incident has occurred or in the form of filing civil litigation if any injuries have been inflicted. Once again, this will be the appropriate course of action to take once you have maintained your safety. Trying to win against a raging, out of control driver on the spot of an incident would not be the wisest course of action to take.

The Used SUV Dilemma
Is purchasing a used SUV a good deal or is it a serious problem in the making?
Call it a sign of the times, but it would appear that the era of the SUV is finally drawing to a close. It really should come as no surprise since cars that follow the model of the SUV really do not have much of a chance to survive in troubled economic times.
During economic boom periods, gas guzzling cars such as this can become a status symbol. This can boost sales and raise the market share for its manufacturer. However, in an era of rising food and fuel costs the SUV was doomed to disappear. This is exactly what is currently happening.
Recently, the General Motors Corporation has announced that it is discontinuing much of the production of this vehicle. Actually, General Motors will be eliminating the production of 117,000 cars as an effort to save money. (GM is currently suffering from massively dwindling sales) For some, this may even present an opportunity. That is, because these types of cars are in such a low demand many owners may opt to dump these used cars for very little money. So, purchasing these vehicles becomes a great deal for the sales conscious.
However, it is critical to point out that one of the reasons there has been a backlash against these vehicles is because of safety concerns. SUV's come with a severe rollover risk. Also, the roofs of these vehicles are known to compress when they rollover making the vehicles incredibly dangerous. This must be taken into consideration when purchasing a used car because the car you purchase may be an extremely risky vehicle to drive.
If you do suffer a serious injury as a result of the poor design of an SUV there are a number of legal options available to you. An attorney who is well versed in the complexities of SUV litigation can often represent clients quite well in situations where manufacturer defects played a major roll in the accident.
